What can I expect from Friendship Christian
Community?
| |
For too long, people have been comfortable just going to Church every
Sunday...as some sort of penance. We're out to do something completely different.
We're not a Church!
What we are is a group of Christians who gather to worship together and help each other through the
adventure called life.
So what can I expect from Friendship Christian Community? That's
fairly simple...
- Celebration at life's triumphs.
- Support at life's challenges.
- The opportunity to help spread the Word of God
- The chance to serve and be served in a unique atmosphere.
- If there is something you need, ask. If there is something you can give, give.
huh??? We have a tenet which we hold close to our
hearts...Unconditional acceptance, uncompromising accountability. Let's take
those one at a time...
Unconditional Acceptance -- Where you came from doesn't
matter. Where you are does. With us, you are always among
friends. Bring your joys, bring your sorrows. You're not alone.
Uncompromising Accountability -- The success or failure of Friendship
Christian Community lies in the hands of each person who walks through the door Sunday mornings, at
cluster meetings, at the side of a hospital bed, or out in public.
Whether it's the Pastor, Lay Speaker, Member of a Participation Group or Cluster,
each attender and participant is Friendship Christian Community and we simply
cannot exist without everyone's help.
I'll bite...How do I become a member? Here's the
kicker...We have no members. What we do have are participants,
attenders, and the curious.
Participants are those individuals who take part in a
majority of the activities of the Community, such regular worship service attendance, Community
Cluster Groups, and other Participation Groups. They may also serve as ushers, stewards, lay
speakers, and have an active role in prayer groups, men's groups, women's groups, Bible study, and
are generous in offerings of time and money.
Participants shall have all rights, including voice and
a voting rights, in all matters related to the direction of the community.
Attenders are those individuals who regularly or
occasionally attend Sunday services and give financial contributions to the Community, but only
take part in few, if any, aspects of Community life..
The curious are those individuals who may occasionally
attend Sunday services but do not contribute either time or financially to the community.
Attenders and the curious have no voice or
voting rights as it applies to the direction of the Community.
